Charleston has one of the best food scenes in the South, a city that flourishes with amazing cuisine at every corner. In 2025, Charleston was introduced to the wonderful taste and palate of Paleto, a Brooklyn Italian-inspired restaurant. The new Charleston menu is embellished with homemade red sauce, fresh pasta, and the spirit of Brooklyn. The establishment is a reflection of family history, cultural tradition, and a love for Italian American food. The Scotto family already has locations in Nashville and Franklin, TN. Now the family has officially stepped into South Carolina, bringing their brand of Brooklyn Italian warmth to a city we call Home. Pelato is located at 1085 Morrison Drive, and it's already become one of the most talked-about new restaurants in the Holy City. Whether you’re enjoying a night out in your neighborhood or visiting Charleston for the first time, Pelato has all the delicious dishes you’ll want to try.
The driving force behind the concept is Theresa Scotto, a hospitality and culinary expert who grew up cooking alongside her mother in Brooklyn. The recipes showcased on their menu have been in the Scotto family for decades, and it shows. On the menu, you'll find a curated assortment of small, shareable plates designed to be passed around the table, in a tapas-style format. It's the kind of dining experience that turns strangers into friends and friends into family. Every dish earns raving reviews, and there's not a bad choice in the mix
The menu at Pelato changes and evolves, but a selection of dishes has already become instant staples within the Charleston community. Here is a small list of our favorites, and this is just scratching the surface.
Burnt Broccolini - Charred to perfection with black garlic, Calabrian chili, and lemon
Chicken Parmigiana - Thin-pounded, breaded, draped in Tomato, basil, Parmigiano Reggiano, and mozzarella
Radiatori Vodka - House-made radiatori pasta in a bold vodka sauce with Calabrian chili, parmigiano reggiano
Frozen Drinks - Frozen cosmopolitan & their fan favorite espresso martini
Charleston is not shy of their incredible dining options, yet Pelato has made itself something genuinely special. Whether you're a Charleston local looking for a new neighborhood spot or you're visiting the Holy City and want a meal that is talked about for the rest of the trip, Pelato is where you want to be.
