Handsome Properties January 18, 2022
Charleston is one of the fastest-growing communities, constantly evolving with new innovative developments. It is a desirable place to live with its historic charm and natural beauty, and as a community, we strive to keep that beauty by preserving and conserving our public land and parks. Among many new developments coming to the Lowcountry, here are three that plan to pop up in 2022!
The designs for this 85-acre park began back in 2016 with a focus on a pleasant communal place for Summerville and Dorchester County residents while also ensuring the preservation of the surrounding wetlands. The park will open to the public in the Spring of 2022 at 220 Renken Road, Summerville SC.
Amenities will include an interactive fountain designed as a map of the Ashley River, dog parks, open green spaces; playground & picnic areas, a ropes course, climbing wall, a pavilion + event space, and a large pond with fishing piers and boardwalks.
This park is an ideal location for friends and family to have a weekend outing: an outdoor picnic, a soccer match, a safe place to bring the family dog, an area to host a birthday party, fishing with grandpa, the possibilities are endless!

RealityLink will welcome TopGolf at the end of the year in the new mixed-use development known as Uptown at Centre Pointe, which will be situated with proximity to the North Charleston Coliseum & Performing Arts Center and Charleston Area Convention Center. This mixed-use development will include a combination of entertainment, office, hotel, apartment, retail, and restaurants.
The TopGolf facility will mimic the Georgia location & have 2 levels consisting of 72 climate-controlled bays where you can order food and drink and have an interactive high tech golf experience with family and friends. It is played by hitting micro-chipped golf balls at giant dartboard-like targets on an outfield. The closer you get your ball to the bullseye and the further the distance, the more points earned.
The future venue in North Charleston will be a similar design as Topgolf Buford (Georgia), which is featured in this photo.
The Lowline is the central spine of a regional park and mobility line connecting Downtown to West Ashley, North Charleston and Mt. Pleasant. The neglected former rail line spine down the peninsula is being restored and activated. The Lowcountry Lowline Partners and Charleston County District have envisioned a green space that allows a safe path for pedestrians and bicyclists, highlighting and improving the surrounding neighborhoods, all while confronting the issue of city-wide flooding.
The three districts making up the Low Line are the North Central Corridor, The Parks, and the Urban Core. The North Central Corridor is the area that runs through Romney Street to the planned transit hub on Mount Pleasant Street. This will provide areas for both active and passive recreation in the planned “Columns” beneath the elevated highway where there is an abundance of space to host a neighborhood market. Pocket parks will be included throughout, as well as an opportunity for a new pedestrian district at the north end of the low line.
The Parks district runs from Romney Street to Line Street and welcomes two new parks: New Market Creek Park to the north and Low Line Park to the south. New Market Creek Park is an enhanced fresh and saltwater ecosystem that provides stormwater management for the surrounding neighborhoods. Low Line Park will be a space designed for events and gatherings.
The Urban Core District runs from Line Street to Marion Square and will connect pre-existing alleyways as well as new access points that will benefit the entire district. A neglected space will be brought back to life and flow within the pre-existing area plans, benefitting all residents and pedestrians alike.
