Temperatures are climbing and the Charleston calendar is heating up with events, festivals, and many activities! Sit down and pencil in some upcoming events, a sampling of which you’ll find below!
What better way to spruce up hump day then to sip chardonnay surrounded by the landscaped artwork of Middleton Place. At the Spring Wednesday Wine Stroll, You’ll get to sample a select choice of wines while taking in the fresh blooms brought on by the new season.
- Wine Strolls take place every Wednesday until May 27, and start at 6pm. Tickets are $20 online & $25 at the gate.
Don your thinking caps and get ready to dig into the best in innovative start-ups. Dig South is bringing a whole four days’ worth of events for the aspiring entrepreneur, investor, creators, or any Charlestonian on the cusp of tech. Start with the conference and attend a workshop or two, and make sure to test out new products at the Dig Show, then watch start-ups pitch live to a panel of judges and investors.
- Dig South starts today, April 29 and runs until May 1. Passes are still available, and if you can only make an event or two, you’re in luck—individual event tickets are just $50.
Head north to take in 8 days of art at the 2015 North Charleston Arts Festival. Presentations across mediums and disciplines mark the schedule, with everything from a comic book show to film festivals to a Food Truck Rodeo. Vendors will also be selling fine crafts, artwork, and antiques, to name just a few.
- The festival starts on May 1 and ends May 9. The majority of the events will take place at the Charleston Area Convention Center Complex.
Shades of blue, orange, and green are just some of the feather hues you can expect to find on a Painted Bunting Bird Walk. A two hour walk, led by the birding experts at the Center for Birds of Prey, will highlight the rare Painted Bunting, not to mention wood storks and roseate spoonbills. Afterwards you can take in the flight demonstration and regular bird of prey tour.
- The Center for Birds of Prey is located in Awendaw, SC and walks are scheduled for May 1, May 16, June 6, and June 13. Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
