After a few years on the road, Holey City Bagels finally parked the truck and set up shop in Downtown Charleston. Now located on Coming St. the bagel shop brings added hype to Charleston’s already bustling breakfast/brunch scene.

We caught up with the Owners to get the lowdown on the newest bagel shop taking over the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood.

What Inspired You to Open Up a Bagel Shop?

I grew up on great bagels in New Jersey and felt like their was a need and demand for more bagel shops in the area.

Location, Location. Why Did You Choose This Neighborhood?

Our location on the corner of Cannon and Coming is highly visible, it includes parking across the street, and it allowed us to be the only true bagel shop in downtown Charleston.

Pastrami, Egg and Cheese on an Everything bagel.

What Was the Biggest Business Hurdle That Took You by Surprise?

It’s far more espensive to open a restaurant than I ever anticipated.

What’s Your Favorite Part About the Charleston Food Scene?

The diversity and the quality. If you are not producing a quality product, you will not last, there are just too many options, it forces restaurants to be at the top of their game at all times.
