October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month! There are many ways we as a community can contribute to this worthy cause that affects us all in one way or another. From dining out to participating in breast cancer awareness events, we can all do our part in finding a cure for this devastating disease. Here’s a guide to everything PINK in the Charleston community supporting Susan G. Komen LowCountry!
CentraArchy Restaurants: California Dreaming, Carolina Roadhouse, NY Prime, and Gulfstream Cafe/Burro Loco, will donate 50% of each Pink Kiss dessert martini or sorbet in martini glass to Komen LowCountry, for the entire month of October.
October 17th, 2014. Pick up a pink ribbon bagel at either of these decked out in pink Panera Bread locations: Tanger Mall, Citadel Mall or Main St. in Summerville.
The Charleston Shoe Company will donate a portion of every pink shoe sold to Komen LowCountry through out the month of October. 161 King St.

October 26-29th, 2014 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Check out the Cynthia Rowley store on 178 King; 10% of all sales will be donated to Komen LowCountry.

October 20-26th, 2014. The US Tennis Association Professional Ladies Tennis Tournament will be filled with fun, food and activities for all ages.

October 24th, 2014 9:00-11:00 PM. Watch the College of Charleston Ice Hockey team play VMI. Admission is free, but donations to Komen LowCountry are welcome!

October 15th and 22nd, 2014. Stroll through the gardens of Middleton in your pink attire! A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to Komen LowCountry.

Get your registration form online. New this year is “Kids for the Cure”, ages 6-12 will have their own shirts and participate in a short run!
October 25, 2014 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM. Walk or run 5k with friends and family, hosted by the Carolinas Hospital System of Florence, SC.

Sunday, October 26th at Wild Dunes Resort.Susan G. Komen LowCountry and Friends and Family of Vicki Hollingsworth are hosting this amazing golf and tennis event to raise money, find a cure and pay tribute to Vicki Hollingsworth.
October is such an important month because it reminds us to be aware of the risk of breast cancer, but also educate those in our community. There are a variety of events in Charleston supporting the Komen LowCountry Affiliate for all ages and interests; it’s easy to participate or donate in some sort of small way.
Your time and support can go to improving the lives of those facing the disease in our community. The Susan G. Komen foundation is truly an amazing non profit that provides funding to screening, education, treatment and support programs worldwide. There are a few more weeks left of October, so go PINK before it’s over!
