The home also has a rich history found in the stories of those who once resided there. Local artist Elizabeth O'Neill Verner, known for her etchings and pastel work, lived at 38 Tradd. O'Neill used the space as a gallery for her art in the early 20th century. During her residency on Tradd Street, O'Neill painted the picturesque street in her painting titled "Tradd Street, Charleston, now a prominent piece in the Charleston Museum collection.
