We’ve compiled a short list of the best spots to view firework displays on the Fourth of July weekend because you just can’t celebrate America without fireworks!
Patriot’s Point: The largest fireworks display in Charleston takes place at the Patriot’s Point Naval & Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant. Unfortunately, tickets are sold out for the U.S.S. Yorktown event, but you can opt for the free admission on the grassy area beside the ship. Parking is $10 and coolers and chairs are welcome. On the grassy area, there will be food vendors and children’s entertainment. The event lasts from 4pm-10pm and is fun for the whole family!
Waterfront Park: Located off of Vendue Range near the Pineapple Fountain, Waterfront Park looks directly across the river from Patriot’s Point so you’re sure to catch a great view of the fireworks. It can get a little bit crowded so try to get there early for a good seat! Admission is free.
The Battery: Lovingly referred to as “The Battery” by locals, this riverfront sidewalk lines Murray Boulevard and has great views of local fireworks across the Ashley River towards James Island. While the firework displays are definitely smaller, it’s fun to watch the variety of fireworks set off by residents in a less crowded setting.
Garage Rooftop near Aquarium: Fourth of July Hack: pay admission to a parking garage and park at the very top to get a first class view of the various displays throughout the city. Best bet is a parking garage near the Aquarium so you can see the Patriot’s Point’s firework show.
