Top Coffee Shops in Downtown Charleston

Handsome Properties July 16, 2017

Cold brewed, extra hot, skinny, tall, mocha frappuccino with extra whipped cream—no matter how you like your coffee, we’ve got just the place for you! There are a large number of coffee shops around town so we’ve compiled a short list of some spots not to miss.

  1. Rise Coffee Bar: 75 Wentworth Street. Located inside the Restoration Hotel, this trendy coffee shop is a blogger’s dream come true. From the penny tile to the marble countertops, this Instagram-able shop is a Charleston favorite. The Restoration is a boutique hotel with a rooftop pool, luxury spa and retail store filled with local goodies. Topping off the effortlessly cool style of Rise Coffee Bar is the iconic teal 60’s Ford Mustang that is normally parked out front.
  2. Kudu Coffee and Craft Beer: 4 Vanderhorst Street. Located just one block from Marion Square, Kudu Coffee has been a Charleston staple for over a decade now. With its own roasting facility located downtown at 708 King Street, Kudu is dedicated to making the freshest and most locally sourced coffee possible. In addition to their bean selections, Kudu offers a nice selection of craft beers and wine. The private courtyard is the perfect spot to enjoy your cappuccino and the occasional live music performance.
  3. Black Tap: 70.5 Beaufain Street. Located in the Harleston Village neighborhood on the outskirts of the College of Charleston’s campus, Black Tap is a minimalistic’s dream with clean lines and hand made furniture. The shop is housed inside of an historic Charleston residence and has created somewhat of a cult following. The coffee shop’s mission is to keep coffee simple and good—which they seem to be doing a great job of so far!

No matter how you like you coffee, living in Charleston guarantees an endless amount of options for a coffee date, a study session, or a quick coffee break to re-fuel.
